Glenyss Lipscombe founded Studio Blue in 2000 to pursue her ideas on interiors. She has a wide range of commercial, retail and residential experience and a strong sense of contemporary design, gained from previous experience in large companies. These companies encompassed both interior designers and architects. Glenyss has worked successfully with high profile architectural practices such as Bennetts Associates and feels strongly that the interior and exterior of a building should live in harmony with each other.
Glenyss Lipscombe is a qualified Interior Designer, graduating with a related degree from Sydney College of the Arts in 1988. Having grown up in Sydney, many aspects of the Australian lifestyle have influenced her design approach. Light, space, aspect, colour, use of natural materials and 20th Century modern classic furnishings all play a key role.
For six years prior to founding Studio Blue, Glenyss worked for Terence Conran’s design practice, Conran and Partners. During this time, Glenyss was involved on a number of high profile projects, ranging from retail to restaurants, and most notably, the Great Eastern Hotel at Liverpool Street. On this project she was part of a team, responsible for the design of 270 bedrooms and suites and solely responsible for two of the six restaurants at the hotel. Glenyss also had key roles in the design and implementation of Bluebird and Mezzo restaurants and the Conran shops in Hamburg and Melbourne. She gained substantial experience working on complex projects, being involved from conception of ideas through to finished projects and interfacing with both clients and other professionals in the building industry.
